Curriculum Aims:

Besides enabling students to use English to handle their own affairs (study, self-management, personal enrichment, problem solving), communicate and collaborate with others and examine and respond to contemporary issues from multiple perspectives (personal, social, national and global), we also offer them the chance to experience the cultures of other people, appreciate English literature and enjoy the pleasure of learning and creating in the medium of English. Our curriculum and extra-curricular activities will see to it that positive values and attitudes are inculcated in our students so they will grow up to be cultivated and civic-minded intellectuals with a strong moral fibre, cultural understanding and global vision.

Subject Description:

The curriculum comprises five areas of study, namely, Reading, Viewing, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Three Electives are chosen for F. 4 to 6 students. Students are required to write a short story in F.4, conduct a research on a social issue and write a report in F.5 and do debates in F.6.

In junior Forms, students are given Literature, ERS (Extensive Reading Scheme) and Dramatic English.

Outside the classroom, Junior form students learn English through ‘Lunch time programme where they watch movies, ‘Lunch time show’ where they perform in English, ‘English Morning Assemblies’ where F.1-4 students take charge of assemblies, ‘English Monday’ (Siu Ching 105) where students express their opinions on different Social Issues, and ‘Mentoring Programme’ where senior and junior students pair up for casual conversation.
